Dida is a single surviving leaf, and even the complete Didache vanished from every library for centuries until one copy was found in 1873. So little surviving text means low Stamina — it cannot absorb much argument before it must close.

The Didache is a manual that trains new believers how to live. Instruction is gentle work — Dida was never written to win fights, so its Contend is modest.

The quotes behind its moves

How to read these. In Scholar’s Dream, books argue with each other. Each thing a book can do in a debate is a move, and most moves carry a real quotation — the words the book puts on the table when it uses that move.

Notes

Anonymous — an early Christian community, most likely in Syria, somewhere between A.D. 50 and 120. Not a letter and not a treatise: a training manual, written to hand Gentile converts a whole way of life before they were baptized.

The complete Greek text hangs on ONE manuscript — Codex Hierosolymitanus 54, copied A.D. 1056, found by Philotheos Bryennios in 1873. For every century before that, the church had lost it.

Chapters 1–6 are the Two Ways: life and death, laid side by side. That is the part you are holding. The manual has ten more chapters, and they are about how a church actually runs.
