Fairly high. This is the middle version of Ignatius’ letters, which scholars established as his real text. The words are trustworthy, though the tangle of longer and shorter versions still hangs over it a little.
A book develops as it is read — the fragment becomes the work, the work becomes the corpus.

How to read these. In Scholar’s Dream, books argue with each other. Each thing a book can do in a debate is a move, and most moves carry a real quotation — the words the book puts on the table when it uses that move.
Strong against lists the opposing books and arguments a move was written to answer. Used against one of them, it hits much harder than usual: ×2 means twice the normal force, ×4 four times. It is the game’s way of saying: this is the sentence that answers that argument. Open an entry to read why.

Ignatius wrote that where Jesus Christ is, there is the universal church. What cleanses is Christ’s presence, not the conscience of the man pouring the water.

Ignatius’ argument in 4.2 is one only a condemned man can make: if Christ’s suffering was an appearance, then so is mine — and I am walking toward real beasts.
8.2 is the earliest surviving use in Christian literature of the phrase ἡ καθολικὴ ἐκκλησία — "the catholic church." Lightfoot renders it "the universal Church."
Watch what 6.2 does: Ignatius tests the heretics ETHICALLY. Men who deny that Christ had real flesh turn out to have no care for real bodies — the widow, the orphan, the prisoner, the hungry.
